Our participation in the County Fair is an agreement, one made long ago back when our group moved from its original location (in the upstairs room at the schoolhouse in Fort Worden) to the county fairgrounds. Once the building was relocated from the airport to its present spot, several artists joined together in a cooperative effort to build the drawing horses, model stand, light fixtures and the hanging standards as well as design and paint the outdoor signage.

So long as we occupy the Fairground Arts Building, which is offered to us at a greatly reduced monthly rent, we as a group are committed to participate in the county fair where budding artists of all ages (kids, teens, adults and golden-agers) enjoy the opportunity to exhibit their artistic expressions; whose participation in the County Fair touches the hearts of many in our community and beyond.

Remember: our involvement with the fair locks in the agreed upon rent for the facility our group has enjoyed over many years. This year, let us volunteer in larger numbers as much time or effort as our busy schedules allow. Without everyone’s contribution, the diligent few will again be required to pick up the slack. And, to say the least, that ain’t much fun for those diligent few. Also, keep in mind that the funnest jobs go fast, so keep an eye out for the fair job of your choice, the likes of which will soon be posted on the bulletin board in our arts building.

To sum it up: Quimper Arts is known on the Peninsula for its uniqueness. Our group provides a rare opportunity for artists to work from life in three sessions on a weekly basis in a very accommodating and comfortable location. Both relative newcomers to Quimper Arts and those who are long-timers recognize the group’s great energy. With a renewed collected effort, our group not only provides community service at the Jefferson County Fair, but it also presents unique potential of holding workshops and QA collective art shows/sales the likes of which have taken place in Quimper Arts past.

The County Fair:
Jefferson County is one of the last true Community County Fairs. As such, it is wholly dependent upon the contributions and creativity of Jefferson County individuals. QuimperArts has a beneficial agreement for its use of the Fair Building. This arrangement includes a commitment, and an opportunity, for QuimperArts members to create a Fair Exhibit within it's building in August. The Exhibit is designed each year using a theme chosen by the Fairground Board.

Our fair participation includes a comprehensive exhibit, (art, photography, sculpture) submitted by members and the community at large.

Displays: Quimper Arts members from time to time, organize a wide range of art displays. Sculpture, paintings, printing, multi media, photography.

Art Classes: From time to time, QuimperArts can arrange with guest art teachers to offer a series of classes to QuimperArts members and non.members alike. Check this site and the bulletin board in the fine arts building.
